GlobeDSL's new plans and PLDT myDSL upgrade to plan 1290 experience
We've been with PLDT for more than a decade, we've applied to their first DSL plan : Plan999 1mbps. But all along we're only getting a max speed to 512kbps. We've complained about it lots of time but never got past that speed, and that's for the whole decade. There comes the time when disconnection is very frequent every week we're getting so frustrated, so we've gone desperate hunting for another broadband to try.
ENTER GLOBEDSL....
Here comes globe with their plan 3mbps data only for P2,000/month. The installation was snap and the customer service was very responsive. No more headaches and It's been a relief after more than a decade of very slow internet. The speed we're getting is average of 2.5mbps (250-320KB/s) , I'm very okeeey with that.
AGAIN WITH PLDC...
And then so I heard there is that PLDT Plan 990 for upto 384 kbps (with landline). Since the speed we're getting is only upto 512kbps and we're playing P999/month, I've decided to just downgrade to this plan. The speed we're now getting is 384kbps as advertise but I believe there has been a speed increase, from 384kbps to the new speed of 512kbps, but that too was never applied to our plan. Instead of paying P900 for landline + P999 for 512kbps DSL, we're now only paying P990, a real saving!
The tech said they've upgraded the line in our area that's why of frequent disconnection, they said the line is now better and it's sad that we've decided to downgrade... Is that so?
That being said... our main Internet is 3mbps GLOBE which is shared with 6 other computers while 384kbps PLDT is for backup purpose but is now use in laptops for casual browsing.
GLOBEDSL AFTER A YEAR...
There was 1 time when we've got a series of connection problem, we've contacted globe, after a day or two, if was ok again. We've almost forgot about it but we received an automatic call/text from globe regarding issue followup... we've been amazed. Now when I checked the bill, I was so surprised that the due is only HALF of what I've been paying. The bill says it's a fee reduction due to connection problem/downtime we've had... now that's really amazing, we've never experience this with PLDC it almost brings tears on our eyes.... lol
THE USELESS GLOBE TECH SUPPORT...
Sometimes the connection was lost and CAN'T connect... I've contacted globe via their website browsing using pldt dsl. I report that our globe suddenly can't connect to the internet, and the tech told us to follow series of useless instruction to troubleshoot... But I believe the problem is server side that's why I'm asking them if it is ok over there, they say our line is ok, then continue asking us to do troubleshoot... which is unnecessary. That's so a waste of time so I left the live chat. Few hours later, the internet is back.
TRYING OUT PLDT ONCE AGAIN...
We still had faith with PLDT that's why we've decided to try them again. We call them to upgrade our plan from 990 to plan 1290 (phone bundle 1mbps), tech said they will. Then after 2 weeks, still no upgrade. After a series of phone calls, they said it is already upgraded that the bill has already started. We are already being billed even though the upgrade on speed is still not applied! They said to call again tomorrow for update regarding the issue. We did on other day called them to check the status of our upgrade, but now they said their database is being upgraded/on maintenance and can't be access so call again tomorrow. We did, but said the same thing...
We tried to gave them chance but it seems they're really BROKEN. We're so frustrated so we've decided to cancel the upgrade. They did so instantly for fee of 500 pesos. To sum up, we gave PLDC a chance and we we've been awestruck. Never again.
GLOBEDSL's NEW PLAN
For some reason I've decided to check globeDSL's website, and was very happy to discover that there has been new upgraded plans! We were on plan 3mbps data only for 2000 pesos/month, but the new plan 5mbps is now only 2,290 pesos/month with phone bundle! Called them for upgrade and we've got the speed increase in a day or two! Then the tech arrived the next business day to install the new modem+wifi and the landline phone. We're now getting an average speed of 4.5mbps (400-560KB/s)
THE CONCLUSION...
PLDT versus GLOBE? From our experience, we love GLOBE!
