Globe DSL's cheaper new NOT SO UNLIMITED plans... Hi FUP!
Last June I blog about how I love globe for upgrading their DSL plans making it cheaper. What I'm not aware of is that these new cheaper plan has a FUP. Our 5mbps plan has a bandwidth limit of 10GB/day, after that the speed will be throttled. During FUP mode for 5mbps plan, the speed goes unstable within 50-150KB/s. When browsing it's as if someone's downloading a big file leeching all the bandwidth, and online gaming is super lag, it's annoying.
10GB/day on 5mbps plan is not enough, at least make it double, for now. The reason I want faster connection is because I love watching videos in HD, it just gives a better watching experience. Also because it is shared with 7 other users, who loves watching videos online too, so It's not just 1 user to consume that 10gb/day.
I remember last time I downloaded a 12GB game from Steam, I was so happy the download speed was very fast (~400-500KB/s), I thought it's gonna finish in just few hours. I went AFK for few hours, but afterwards I was confused why the download percentage only slowly increased. I checked the bandwidth graph and it is making zigzag. It seems I already hit a 10gb limit for the day, and the speed is pitying.
Planning to Upgrade for Higher Speed Plan
I really don't mind paying more as long as there is no daily/monthly bandwidth limit. I checked Globe website hoping to find a fix for this FUP, I want to upgrade our plan. But it seems we're already on the highest plan for Home Subscribers. So maybe Business plan?
We've contacted globe business hotline and inquire. Their lowest plan with no bandwidth limit is plan 10mbps for 4,295 Php. That's a bit steep... but I guess it's ok. We asked for more info but they said it requires different line... We've just upgraded our residential line, I don't think we can just disconnect it and get business plan line, we might have to get both. So in the end, for now we don't consider doing business plan and sticked to 5mbps with 10gb/day bandwidth limit plan.
I'm also reading rumors that Globe will also remove the unlimited bandwidth on business plan?? Globe You Suckkk!
Anyway, our GlobeDSL is currently broken right now, as in can't connect to the internet. So I'm currently using our backup PLDT DSL plan 990 (384kbps). I actually blog right now because I quite like how web browsing in this slow speed plan is Okey like a breeze. A good backup internet connection whenever our GlobeDSL is broken.
