CDJapan SAL to Manila Philippines
I've been wanting to try buying from CDJapan due to its cheap prices. You can buy a brand new comic for around 500 Yen.
To test their service, I bought 2 comics worth total of 1160 Yen and chose the cheapest SAL as shipping, for another 690 Yen , a total of $11.72 (with minus 500 yen coupon). Paid via Paypal.
It took exactly 1 month for me to received the package. I went to local post office to claim the package and paid P112 fee.
March 3: Submitted order
March 6: Order has been shipped
April 6: Received notice from the post office and claimed my parcel
SAL Japan to Manila = Approx. 1 month.
The very first Japanese Manga I ever bought, 2 volumes costs me only around $12 (P600) including shipping. I can't read japanese well. I'm using this to practice reading.
EMS
I've read in twitter that all Manila packages will have to be picked up from Pasay Customs???
FEDEX
Was removed from PH shipping options due to complains of high fees when claiming their parcels. But they're available again... because maybe they're ok now?
I contacted FEDEX PH and asked about their fees. Here's their reply...
From what I understand, if they deliver door-to-door, you will have to pay P420 + 12% VAT then if you opt to pickup your parcel from their office, you pay P80 + 12% VAT?
OR, they don't door-to-door but instead you will have to go to their office to claim your parcel and pay P420 + 12% VAT plus P80 + 12% VAT?
You paid for their expensive shipping fees, then they'll ask you to commute to their office to claim your parcel and hold it hostage for high fees? Simply outrageous.
If this is really how they work, then no thanks. I'd rather use air mail and wait up to 2 weeks, pickup at local post office and pay only P112.

I've been thinking of trying EMS and FEDEX (yes, FEDEX is available again for PH customers) but...EMS

How come EMS Parcels needs to be picked up at Pasay if you're in Metro Manila if there are @CustomsPH officials at local city post offices?— Alexis Mendoza (@kimbamheo) January 28, 2017

Dear Customer:
Good day.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our services.
For 10,000.00PHP and below value shipment is exempted for the duties and taxes.
Thus, there would be warehouse processing charge and individual entry form fee since this will still undergo Customs clearance.
For first 48 hours the Warehouse processing charge is 420 + 12% VAT, while individual entry form fee is 80 + 12% VAT.
